GASICS Part 14

In about 2 hours, a new piece of information dropped.

Turns out that the grade for a single one of Elec's courses hadnt been released yet! Their GPAs had been calculated without considering that.

The race was suddenly wide open!

Me, and a couple of others, sent emails to the authorities about this error, arguing that it was only fair to release the final list after factoring in this last grade.

If I had another chance, hell, I was going to make the most of it. I set up a meet with the physics lab professor, to see if I could get my lab grade changed.

If I did manage to pull this off, it would make getting CS a sure thing, with a 10 GPA.

Speed was very important here, as would be pointless if the change was registered after the GPAs for the new list were calculated.

The lab prof wasnt very enthusiastic about having to recheck an answer sheet from the last semester, and sent me on errands to get permissions from various authority figures to get my sheet released from storage.

All this, for him turning and saying that that there was no scope for improvement. I wasn't expecting much from this, so I didnt take the hit personally. It was worth a shot.

Great then, there was nothing I could do except wait now. The hours turned into days, which turned into a week.

It was a confusing time, as I had an old branch, a new branch, and was still going to get a new new branch, which made deciding where to attend classes problematic.

Only when the new list finally did come out, did I breathe a sigh of relief. Me, and another friend from Meta had the exact same GPA, and got the last two spots out of the 8 in CS.

About halfway through the new semester, I found out that my study buddy from Meta, who had gotten his branch change to elec, also had the exact same GPA as us.

If he had put in CS as his first preference in the form, all three of us wouldve been in Electrical now, because of being one over the capacity of exactly 8 seats.

I didn't get lucky on 4th June 2023, but I certainly have been since.
